CLIOwin 7, the new measuring software for CLIO, allows users to select, within the Options/Hardware control panel, audio devices other than the CLIO PB4281. In the figure you can see CLIOwin 7 driving the SC-01 Signal Conditioner through a USB Sound System made by M-Audio.

This
feature enhances system flexibility and allows easier portability; it is however,
at the moment, not supported by Audiomatica. In fact the feature is not documented
in the user manual and this is not a forgetfulness. We obviously cannot test
the Hardware/Software ensemble with any existing sound device nor we can maintain
the high accuracy standards allowed by proprietary hardware. Actually we had
good performances with the devices listed here. We will keep on testing and
inform you regarding new devices on the market that give good results in terms
of reliability and accuracy. The CLIO system will still be supplied as it
is, that is with the CLIO PB4281 PCI board. Users are advised to gain experience
with the supplied hardware before relying on this new feature.
Enabling this feature will also change the behaviour of time aware measuring
menu such as MLS&LOGCHIRP and Sinusoidal. They will switch to single channel
operation disabling Channel B and using it as reference.
Calibration is allowed only in selected cases (devices listed).
